John Muir Trail Solo Adventure: Complete

I recently realized that after all my set up and talk about gear to use on a  John Muir trail solo hike, there was no payoff. So here it is.

TL;DR: I finished.

John Muir Trail Solo Hike: By the Numbers

I started at about 9:45 am on Sunday, June 10 and finished about 2:00 pm on Friday, June 22.

I walked about 213 miles in 13 days, which averaged just under 16 and a half miles each day. My longest day was almost 25 miles, my shortest just under 13. I didn’t keep track of the elevation loss and gain, but I can say it was pretty significant, especially near the end.

As an experiment (with no control, though, so I guess it wasn’t a good experiment), I wore my Nike FuelBand the entire time. Here’s how that looks:

Over the next few weeks (months?) I’ll write here about the various tools, gear, and utilities that helped me finish my trek – maybe it’ll help you on your next adventure.
